I’ve been thinking about this lately, and honestly, it’s a simple mathematical truth applied to the human condition: a person is essentially nothing more than a fraction. You take who you actually are—your true character, your real actions, your actual substance—and that’s your numerator. Then you take how much you think of yourself, that massive, bloated ego, and that becomes your denominator. It’s basic arithmetic, really. The bigger that denominator gets, the smaller the actual value of the person becomes. If you walk around thinking you're the greatest thing since sliced bread, you're just shrinking your own worth until you're practically zero.
