Search bar issues

What's going on with this search function? No matter what I type into the bar, I get zero results.

It either says "No matches found" or spits out some nonsense about word length... which makes no sense. Nothing I've searched for could be too short or too long, and I know they exist here—I literally copy-pasted a sentence from a previous post.

Is the search tool broken? Do I need to toggle some setting? Is it because my post count is too low? Something else...

www.google.com

In the search bar, type site:reddit.com whatever term you're looking for

Why isn't the "search by keyword" function actually working? This started happening right after they rolled out that new interface design. No matter what term I type into the search bar, I get absolutely nothing back. I even tried searching for things I’ve found before using the old layout—basically just re-entering terms that definitely worked last week—but still, nothing. Huh? It’s like no matter what I type in, the results just come up empty.

I attempted a bit of searching yesterday—nothing to show for it 😕 😕

Honestly, just use Google to dig up old threads on here... though even that’s a bit of a hassle. It’d be nice if one of the admins could at least drop a quick note explaining why this happened and when search might actually be back online...

It’s not working, obviously. And even if it did, it would basically be useless since the words have to be at least five letters long...🙄

Man, why can't they just fix it so it works like it used to back in the day? I really miss how things were...

Man, what happened to this redesign? The forum looks totally washed out, and now the search function isn't even working.

Here’s the big WHY
- I want to start a new thread in a category that already has over 100 topics—and instead of scrolling through every single one to see if I'm just overthinking things, I'd rather just hit the search bar, right?
- But then the search tool comes back with "no matches found," so I go ahead and open a NEW topic... only to realize the damn thing ALREADY EXISTS!!!!! The search engine just completely missed it!!!

So, seriously, could someone please fix this search function so it does its job correctly 👎 😠

If you actually need a search tool, just set it up this way. Don't wait until we've all decided it's broken and then try to claim you accidentally made a double post because the search isn't working. 😁

What's even the point of having a search engine if it doesn't work? It's kind of like having a mouse that's totally busted, so now you have to use your keyboard for everything you used to do with the mouse!! Just imagine how annoying that would be... 🙄

And yeah, I know, I read through all the posts already, but what can I say? I'm pretty stubborn like that... 😬

It looks like your search function might be acting up. You could also try checking out the threads just below this one—a few people have already posted about having "SEARCH ISSUES." 😉

No, it’s definitely broken for now. Not really sure what happened there.
