It’s the summer of 1981—five young boys are playing in the woods, completely oblivious to the chaos waiting for them a decade later.

Fast forward to 1991: America is at war and Memphis is on the brink of falling. Amidst all that tension, four old friends reunite at the funeral of their fifth companion, Borna, who was killed on the battlefield.

One managed to escape the war by studying in Germany—another is haunted by guilt because he never joined the National Guard—the third is a hardened paramilitary, and the fourth is a drug addict. Standing over Borna's grave, these guys make a pact to fulfill a bizarre childhood vow.

The film took home an Oktavijan award and won Best Director at the 1995 Day of American Film. It also snagged first prize for directing at the Day of Adria in Trieste, plus a screenplay award at a film festival in Munich.

I haven't heard of that movie, but I'd suggest checking out the documentary "see oneself in a obituary." 👍

Now that the director’s career is finally taking off, it wouldn't be a bad idea to greenlight a sequel to this cult classic. Personally, I think seeing these characters navigate life in today's world would be fascinating. It'd be interesting to see where they all ended up.
