Took a blunt hit to the shin. The skin split open, but nothing major. I didn't bother hitting the ER because I didn't think it needed stitches—not like this is my first rodeo when it comes to getting banged up. Cleaned it out, covered it with sterile gauze, and picked up some antibiotic powder once I got home. At first, it was oozing pus under the scabs, but it seems to have settled down now. It’s about 1.5x2 cm. Honestly, it isn't a huge deal, but it's annoying as hell.
I was hoping it would be healed by tonight, but no luck.
I'm traveling right now so I can't just drop in to see a doctor—it's not an emergency—but this is starting to get on my nerves. I have to baby it constantly; I can't even train properly...
What should I do? Is there anything smarter than just using gauze and Neosporin?
Or does time really heal all wounds?😁

Look, if you aren't seeing any redness, swelling, or signs of an actual infection... then just go ahead and use whatever you've got on hand. Just make sure you take the bandages off at night so the wound can "breathe," as they say.

There’s no infection here—no redness around the edges, no swelling, and it doesn't hurt when I touch it... I just felt a bit gross leaving the gauze on overnight so it wouldn't stick to the sheets. I'll let it breathe, thanks!

Don't sweat it too much... though I guess if it really refuses to heal and, like you mentioned, keeps sticking to the bedsheets, then you might want to look into those medical-grade ointments designed to speed up scabbing and getting everything back to normal.

Apparently Bivacain isn't being manufactured anymore, and since they're out of that Tyrosur powder, I've been using Neosporin instead. The pharmacist claims it's basically the same thing.
What do you guys call these creams or ointments? Any recommendations?

It’s not like they stopped making it, it’s just that they don't import the powder version anymore. They still bring in the spray, but honestly, I don't think that's going to do you much good... I can't quite remember the name of the ointment, though... there's one they use on boxers to get those cuts from punches to stop bleeding fast. But look, if it's been three weeks and it hasn't healed, you really ought to go see a doctor. Three weeks is way too long for a wound to be sitting there like that.
