I’m starting this thread because I’ve been thinking a lot about those old wellness retreats... I wanted to see how many of you spent some time at that beautiful sanatorium back when you were younger. I live out in the Miami area now, and honestly, seeing what it’s become breaks my heart. The main building is basically falling apart, and all those little bungalows in the complex are in pretty rough shape too. I actually spent three months there once dealing with a nasty bout of bronchitis, and I made so many lifelong friends from all over the former Soviet Union during that stay. It’s such a vivid memory for me, and I really wouldn't want us to let it fade away into nothing...😁

I live in the Miami area, and let me tell you, the place is a wreck now. The main building is falling apart, and the bungalows in the complex are just as bad. I spent three months there back in the day dealing with bronchitis, and I made friends from all over the old Soviet Union. That place holds a special spot in my memory, and I really don't want us to let it fade away into nothing.😁

Just wandering by... 😢 I never actually went there for treatment, but I vividly remember the whole complex getting absolutely gutted by a massive fire back in the eighties. It hasn't truly recovered since then.
I'm not entirely sure what the deal is, but it looks like a total mess of unresolved property disputes and legal red tape.

I was out there today. Honestly, the situation is just heartbreaking... The main building has been taken over by homeless folks, and you'll find drug paraphernalia scattered all over the bungalows. The whole complex has basically been stripped bare; people have scavenged everything they could get their hands on. Inside, it’s a mess of leftover meds and random chemicals everywhere. But then, as soon as we stepped through the doors, I got this overwhelming sense of déjà vu... like I actually knew the place, deep down. We stumbled upon a bunch of old photographs lying around, but strangely enough, I wasn't in a single one of them. 😁

I’ve always had a soft spot for Smalltown, USA, near Miami—actually, I live in Miami myself, just like you, Casey Hayes7. I dropped by there once with a few friends; we didn't bother checking into the main hospital (which, frankly, was crawling with transients), but we did wander through a couple of the bungalows and the resort area. Honestly? What we saw at the resort was pretty stomach-turning. There were freshly opened cans of Coca-Cola and a few half-finished cocktails just sitting out everywhere. Absolutely revolting. Though, if I’m being honest, part of me wants to go back just to see if I can scavenge a few things, haha 👍
