First off, I just wanted to say hello to everyone here! This is my very first post, so please bear with me if I mess anything up or get a little lost. I’m 14 years old and stand about 5'3". I've been playing soccer since I was five, and things have been going pretty well for me on the field so far. My main goal right now is to pack on some muscle—I'm currently 92 lbs—specifically focusing on my legs and arms (though I'm actually quite happy with my core for now!). I'm looking for some guidance on what foods I should be fueling up with, what I definitely need to avoid, and which exercises would be best for me, including sets and reps. Since I'm aiming to play professional soccer one day, your expert opinions mean the world to me. Any advice at all is much appreciated! 🙂

Look, man, you’re way too young to be stripping out entire food groups like this, especially since you're only sitting at about 90 pounds. Just eat normally, hang out with your friends, and enjoy being your age. You've got plenty of time later on to get serious about training or dieting 😁

If you don't look like this by the time you hit sixteen, you might want to reconsider a career in pro football:

Shoot sukki a DM and attach those photos. Since she’s a personal trainer, she’ll be able to give you much better advice on your diet and workout routine.

Good luck, and don't let the forum trolls get under your skin.

I honestly don't get why there’s so much mockery and negativity lately. I truly believe this is the pivotal year for these young players to step up and distinguish themselves from their peers, especially since they're transitioning into such a high-stakes, professional level. If you don't have anything constructive to contribute, please just move on. ambertinker41, thank you for actually showing some insight here! 🙂

Look, I’m definitely no pro coach or anything, but if I were back in your shoes right now, there are a few things I’d be doing differently to get ahead.

Honestly, it’s probably a bit early to start heavy lifting with weights, so you're better off just killing it with bodyweight stuff—think push-ups, sit-ups, back extensions, squats, and calf raises. You could aim for a rhythm of three days on and one day off, or maybe two on and one off depending on when your big games are scheduled or if you just happen to have the energy to grind. And don't even think about skipping the cardio; there’s nothing worse than being mid-game and realizing your lungs are burning and you can't finish the match. I’d suggest working on shorter sprints, maybe somewhere between 70 and 150 meters, at a pretty high intensity—around 70-80% effort. Also, make sure you're spending extra time just messing around with the ball, and really focus on training your weaker foot; honestly, just kicking it against a wall is one of the best ways to do that.

If you truly believe you’ve got what it takes to go pro, you’ve got to put in an extra three hours of work every single day. Unless you’re some kind of once-in-a-generation freak athlete where every door is already wide open, you aren't going to get anywhere without that level of obsession. One more thing: if you’re playing for a small local club where scouts aren't exactly hanging out in the stands, you should definitely look into going to some tryouts.

Thanks for the reply, placidcyclist61! 🙂 Does anyone here act as a personal trainer who might be willing to offer some guidance on the forum? Thanks in advance!
