Summer coding bootcamps

Hey there!
So, I'm still in high school, and my exposure to CS was basically just one year in a general track. We touched on Python, but honestly, it was just the bare bones—you know, loops, functions, lists, all that stuff. I’m really itching to actually build on this, and I'm not even strictly tied to Python if there's something better.
Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here? I know the internet is drowning in online courses, but is there anything in New York City—like an actual school or some kind of private academy—where I could go to learn programming properly? And I don't mean some random five-day bootcamp that leaves you more confused than when you started. Or, if you've found some killer online courses that actually work, please let me know!

I really want hands-on experience—give me a project to solve or something to build, because just staring at theory all day sounds incredibly boring.

So, what's the deal with this place—quick bootcamp or a full degree?
I’m honestly not feeling their short courses... I already have some background under my belt, and I seriously doubt I'd pick up anything meaningful in just five days.
