Tanning bed goggles

Hey everyone!

Since tanning season is officially here, I’ve been wondering about those tanning goggles.
The staff at my local salon actually told me I shouldn't bother wearing them because they'd just leave white rings around my eyes.
How much protection do these things actually provide? (It seems like half the girls there don't even use them.)
Has anyone else dealt with eye issues or irritation from tanning beds?

Those glasses protect you from UV rays, which are incredibly intense and can easily penetrate even thin eyelids. If you skip them, you might not notice anything right after a session at the tanning salon, but the damage hits you years down the road.

It’s honestly non-negotiable to wear them. Anyone suggesting otherwise clearly doesn't understand the basic science behind it or isn't using their common sense...

They're so low-profile that you won't end up with any weird white rings around your eyes, since they're designed to cover just the eyelid area.

I’m honestly a little freaked out by the potential for vision damage. Since people rarely actually wear their sunglasses, I can just see an entire generation growing up being practically blind from sun exposure. I really hope we don't end up there.

Does everyone actually wear those tanning goggles?
Are standard UV sunglasses enough to do the job?

I couldn't find those specific tanning glasses at any CVS, does anyone know where I can pick them up?
