Anyone here actually in this business? I'd love to hear about your experiences. What kind of equipment did you start out with, and what’s the bare minimum needed to get an operation off the ground?
My main focus is on sewing aprons, vests, denim, and stuff like that...

Do you honestly think you can stay competitive against the Chinese people in this market?

I don't have anything fully mapped out yet. It's just an idea that popped into my head, still pretty raw. But honestly? I think there’s definitely room for me to carve out a spot in this market.

Maybe, but you need to watch your step. I know people who are already packing their bags because they fell for this exact idea—taking out massive loans to buy machinery. They dropped $100,000 on equipment and haven't produced a single thing with it yet.

Take a look at the competition. Chinese people are buying up the absolute best, latest-generation German tech, while German experts are right there helping them figure out how to squeeze every bit of efficiency out of those machines.

Forget it. The competition is brutal. Better to niche down—maybe workwear. If you can pair that with an embroidery machine to slap logos on stuff, then you're talking.

Also, if you're seriously considering this, you shouldn't be clueless about the equipment you need.😕

Look, I didn't say I was going to go out tomorrow, grab a $200K loan, and jump into a business I know nothing about. This just popped into my head because I noticed an untapped niche where there's definitely room to make some money 🙂

Trust me, I’m well aware of the competition. I felt the heat of it firsthand in my own line of work after 9/11. Even today, my industry is one of the few places where you have people just starting out who are willing to grind without a steady paycheck 😕
