Is there anything more soul-crushing than watching a team dominate for seven innings, only to have everything disintegrate in the blink of an eye? I was watching the game last night and it felt like a physical weight in my chest. You start feeling optimistic, thinking maybe this is finally the game where things go right, and then the wheels just come off completely.
It’s the inconsistency that kills me. You can have a legendary individual performance—one of those career-defining moments that should be celebrated—and it ends up feeling hollow because the rest of the squad just couldn't hold the line. It makes you wonder why the gap between a stellar start and a total meltdown feels so impossibly wide sometimes.
Does anyone else feel like they need to turn the TV off halfway through these collapses just to preserve their sanity?
