I’ve always felt that the most stressful part of any competitive season isn't the actual games, but that murky period right before everything kicks off. You see the hype building, the preseason buzz, and then suddenly you're hit with this "wait and see" limbo where nobody actually knows who's going to be the face of the franchise.
It’s a tough spot for the fans, too. I remember back in college, I used to spend the entire summer obsessing over depth charts, trying to predict which kid was going to take the reins, only for the coaching staff to pull a complete 180 the day before the opener. It’s frustrating when you just want to settle in and get excited, but instead, you're stuck watching a month-long tug-of-war.
There's a certain tension in that uncertainty, though. Part of me thinks it's better for the team's culture when they don't just hand the keys to someone on day one, but man, the suspense is exhausting.
Do you guys prefer it when a team enters camp with a clear leader, or do you actually enjoy the drama of a contested position?
