The Diaspora

I’m pretty unhappy with how this diaspora section is being moderated.

It’s frustrating that Henry Moore2 keeps handing out "penalties" and banning me just because I suggest we integrate perspectives from our diaspora living in other parts of the world.

Honestly, the way the "European" side of the diaspora handles comments and moderation isn't much different from the vibe of people back in the homeland. Those of us in the more distant parts of the diaspora have a completely different mindset, and we’d appreciate it if our voices actually mattered here in the Diaspora subforum.

I get why we aren't included in the "mainstream" subforums. But I don't get why we aren't given even a little bit of influence within the Diaspora subforum itself.

I’m asking to have this "penalty" removed.

This kind of condescending attitude is pretty common back home, but let’s get one thing straight: in North America, we wouldn't last a day treating our clients like this.

Oh, right—because that tone is fine in America (or wherever you're hanging out), but where I live, it isn't. And when I point that out in the Diaspora subforum, you hand me a penalty. If I say it here in the messages, you ban me....

Honestly, just ban me already. It’ll actually serve as a good reminder that I don't have anything to come back to in my homeland. Over there, everyone is aggressive, jealous, and constantly trying to patronize us immigrants with their petty little power trips.... 😢 😢 😢

I’m honestly pretty fed up with how a handful of users here just constantly stir the pot and troll within specific threads. They go totally off-topic, and then—get this—they have the nerve to complain when their posts actually get flagged.

I try to be as fair as possible. Usually, I’ll give a heads-up before I start handing out warnings or bans, but if you’ve been warned several times and you still refuse to follow the thread's purpose, well, you’re going to face the consequences. It’s just how it works.

Like I said before, if someone ends up getting a strike or a ban, there are official channels for that—you can hit up my PM or check the site rules. But what happens constantly is that the same five people will jump into a thread and start making these ridiculous personal attacks. They'll claim I'm just frustrated, or they'll call me names, saying I'm single or ugly or some other nonsense, implying that's why I'm moderating. All of that happens right there in the public thread. And since that’s all strictly off-topic, the rules clearly state those kinds of comments deserve a penalty.

Whether I’m living on Mars or somewhere in the USA, it doesn't really matter—the rules are there for a reason, and they need to be followed.

No, what you posted in your second message was honestly quite unacceptable.
This isn't some random North American forum, and frankly, it doesn't matter how other forums look or how people in other countries behave.
The forum has clear rules—across the entire site, not just in the Diaspora section—stating that you can't comment on moderation outside of the designated area, so every warning stands.
