The Eye (2002)

Has anyone actually watched this yet? Does anyone even know what it is??? It’s just (yet another) Japanese horror flick... I caught a few minutes of it on satellite, but since it was in Japanese and didn't have any subtitles, I was flying blind... It looked genuinely intriguing, though, so now I'm on a bit of a mission to track it down... unfortunately, I haven't had any luck so far. 😢

Chinese? Yeah, I’ve got one sitting right here. It isn’t exactly breaking any records for being mind-blowing or anything, but hey—it gets the job done if you just want something to stare at.

Most of the time, I don't need horror movies filled with dismembered limbs and endless gore. That stuff is supposed to be scary, but more often than not, it’s just funny or boring... if it works at all. This movie was actually pretty decent for me.
Honestly, I love a horror film that can actually relax you and entertain you through the storytelling. I just want one or two scenes that genuinely make me jump in my seat. A subtle hint or a weird little detail is enough to give me that sense of dread or a specific kind of unease. I'm all about that eerie, atmospheric vibe.

Oh, right... the remake... I think I read something about this a few months back, but I can't recall if I got it right: does Tom Cruise have anything to do with this?

Glad you reminded me; I’ve been avoiding that movie for ages (not sure why), so it slipped my mind. I’ll have to watch it soon—sounds... interesting. And terrifying, apparently... creepy, even.

By the way... since we're on the subject of eyes... has anyone seen "my Little Eye" ? I haven't gotten around to it yet. Something tells me I should probably just leave it on the shelf. Then again... you never know... maybe there's something worth seeing in there.

Nah, I’ve read some stuff about that movie and it definitely piqued my interest—kind of caught my attention, you know?—but I think I’m gonna pass on it for now. I don't know... look it over yourself and let me know if it's actually worth the hype 🙂

All in all, it’s a playful horror; I think it does a good job bouncing between dark humor and discomfort (which, I assume, shouldn't be overdone if they want the impact to land). That said—I wouldn't say the scenes horrified me, but there's something about the film that grabs you.

I don't know... maybe that little DIY fridge of hers. 😁

Anyway, watching it wasn't boring.

Especially when this woman lingers around just to ask, "Why are you sitting in my chair?" 🙂 I practically leaped off my bed—honestly, I was absolutely terrified!
All things considered, it was an okay movie. It wasn't nearly as nauseating as something like *The Exorcist*. 😱 😱 😱

I swear, that lady with the facial wart in the hallway was just as much of a nightmare as the other one. It’s always the same thing—you think you're safe, and then suddenly she just appears right behind you out of nowhere. Seriously, it's infuriating. 😲
