Griselda Blanco (February 15, 1943 – September 3, 2012), known as The Godmother, Black Widow, Cocaine Godmother and Narcos, was an American drug lord of the Medellin Cartel and a pioneer in the Miami-based cocaine drug trade and underworld during the 1970s and early 1980s. It has been estimated that she was responsible for up to 200 murders while transporting cocaine from Colombia to New York City, Miami and Southern California.

I just finished watching a documentary about her—man, those cocaine cowboys era stories are wild, and she seems like such an incredibly fascinating woman.

I'm honestly not sure though... do you think Catherine Zeta-Jones actually has the range to pull this role off?

I checked IMDb and it looks like Catalina Sandino Moreno is taking the lead role in Maria, replacing Catherine Zeta-Jones who was previously linked to the project.

As for the rest of the cast, we've got John Leguizamo. There’s no official word on his character yet, but my money is on him playing Pablo Escobar. 😁

Not quite, though there is a connection. 😁 Specifically, the fourth and youngest son of this particular lady boss goes by the name Michael Corleone, and he's the only one of the four still standing today.

Give me a break. Regarding this movie, Catherine Zeta-Jones is playing the lead, and the title is going to be Cocaine Godmother—it'll be in English, obviously. 👎 It drops in January.

It’s heartbreaking to look at much of the developing world and see how certain twisted mindsets still hold sway. We’re talking about thousands of lives lost at the hands of just one single 'king.' The sheer brutality—public executions, decapitations, people being torn apart, leaving piles of remains on display for everyone to see. It’s a descent into pure horror and a total eclipse of human consciousness. I suppose the only "benefit" we get from such darkness is the entertainment value for audiences here in the States, who watch these tragedies unfold on screen because their own lives feel too quiet compared to that kind of nightmare.
