It’s actually quite interesting, isn't it? I suppose I should have expected this to fall apart eventually, though watching it happen feels less like a surprise and more like a slow, inevitable decay.Romario, I suppose I should have seen this coming, though I can't say I'm particularly surprised by the inevitable decline. It’s just one more thing to add to the pile of disappointments we've all learned to expect.Rivaldo, I suppose I should have expected this kind of reaction, given how predictably everything tends to unfold.Ronaldo, I suppose I should have seen this coming, though why anyone expects anything different from this mess is beyond me.Ronaldinho
Everyone. I suppose I should have expected this to fall apart eventually, though I can't say I'm particularly surprised by the predictable descent into chaos. The discussions always circle back to the same thing: everyone who actually lifted that trophy at the time was playing for... I suppose I should have expected this to happen eventually, though it doesn't make the inevitable disappointment any easier to swallow.Barça

😲

A little tip for you: if you happen to be a Brazilac with a name starting with R, you might as well just start racing toward Barcelona now. 😬

Nah, more like those fancy glazed donuts. Apparently, people are devouring them like rabbits on cabbage.

There is zero logic here, and honestly, if you actually believe this, you’re beyond help. I'm done wasting my breath on it.Romario, I don't know what you're trying to say. You just dropped a single letter. If you have a point, make it. Otherwise, stop wasting space.Rivaldo, I'm still waiting on that update. Get to it.Ronaldo, I don't know what you're trying to say. You just dropped an "R" and left. If you have a point, make it. Otherwise, stop wasting everyone's time.Ronaldinho.
everyone BAll the arguments fall apart when you look at the facts. At the exact moment they were hoisting those trophies, they were all playing for the same clubs. It’s that simple. BBarça

😲

Pro tip: If you’re Brazilian and your name starts with an R, just get ready for the race to Barcelona. 😬

It wasn't Ronaldo. He picked up that award while he was playing for Inter Milan.

Actually, he grabbed his first one back when he was still with Barcelona.

Right, you're correct. My bad. I didn't realize he picked up three of them, and I definitely should have known since I'm the one out here claiming he's the best player on the planet. I honestly thought he only took it home for that first and last season at Inter Milan.

Oh, for sure. Ronaldo has racked up so many trophies at this point he probably lost count himself.
I'm actually pretty curious to see how he wraps up this season, because honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if Ronaldo ends up as the top scorer again right alongside an absolutely explosive Eto'o-Ronaldo... just cruising along effortlessly, like nobody even noticed.😁

It’s not even about Henry, but hey, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.

I’m honestly just curious to see how this season wraps up. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Ronaldo ends up as the top scorer again, even with an Eto'o-Ronaldo playing this hot... he'll just cruise through it without anyone even noticing.😁

He’s already sitting on 8 goals, yet he’s acting like he’s sidelined with an injury. Word is he just wants to extend his vacation back in Brazil.

He picked up his first major honors at Barça, then moved to Inter Milan and Real Madrid right after the World Cup... I'm a bit puzzled by him this season. From what I can tell, he's dropped some weight—he isn't that heavy guy anymore. He’s still scoring, but honestly, he isn't quite himself. He actually seemed more clinical when he was carrying an extra 20 pounds. Still, maybe his best years are ahead of him. I'm hoping he wakes up this spring and starts scoring like he's supposed to. The guy is a total legend, unlike some of those other Brazilac players who are constantly high on something.

Sure, and huge congratulations to Ronaldinho Gaúcho. He truly earned the title of best player in the world this year. Respect to both Andriy Shevchenko and Thierry Henry, but they're clearly a step behind him.

Interesting. So far, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimović have managed to take home the Ballon d'Or three times. Looking at the history, the Brazilians dominated with six wins (Cristiano Ronaldo in '96, '97, and '02; Ronaldinho in '04; Rivaldo in '99; and Romario in '94), while Zlatan Ibrahimović took it in '03, '00, and '98, followed by Luís Figo in '01, George Weah in '95, Roberto Baggio in '93, Marco van Basten in '92, and Lothar Matthäus in '91. It's hard to argue with those numbers... the only real outlier was 1996 when Matthias Sammer won the Ballon d'Or, though it really should have gone to Cristiano Ronaldo.
