It just hit me today—with the new season right around the corner, maybe we should take a trip down memory lane and revisit the absolute best duels we've seen over, say, the last five years. I want to hear what you guys think!

1. Mika Häkkinen vs Michael Schumacher - Spa 2000.
2. Kimi Räikkönen vs Juan Pablo Montoya - Hungaroring 2002.

P.S. I know, I know... I’m totally biased! 🙂

I can't quite pin down the exact year, but:

Juan Pablo Montoya vs. Michael Schumacher at Interlagos 2002.

That was the moment I officially started rooting for Juan Pablo Montoya... 😍

Estoril 1996. - Jacques Villeneuve vs Michael Schumacher

Look, I’m probably being biased here, but people have been debating this collision for ages.😁

Then again, if I really want to dig deeper... I’d definitely have to bring up Ayrton Senna at Donington Park in '93... and that duel between G. Villeneuve and R. Aronoux...

It’s gotta be Spa 2000 and that legendary move where Mika Häkkinen lunged right past Michael Schumacher. Honestly, I think Zonta was just stuck in some sort of trance, completely lost in the moment

Since last season, I can still vividly picture those back-to-back overtakes by Button and Fernando Alonso
I just can't quite place which circuit they were on

Wasn't there a battle between Kimi Räikkönen and Juan Pablo Montoya at the Hockenheimring in 2002? I seem to recall them running side-by-side through a couple of corners before Montoya finally managed to pull past Kimi Räikkönen right as they entered the stadium section.

Rubens Barrichello vs Michael Schumacher at IndyCar... man, that was pure art. Right there on the finish line, he pulled just enough of a gap—literally just a fraction of a second—to snatch the win. Absolutely unreal. 🙄

And then there's that move where Takuma Sato tries to overtake Rubens Barrichello, even though Barrichello was sitting pretty in second and Takuma was just riding his coattails with what turned out to be a career-best finish and the best result any Japanese driver had ever seen at that point... 👍

Was there a Kimi Räikkönen vs Juan Pablo Montoya moment at the Hockenheimring back in 2002? I think they were driving side-by-side through a couple of turns and then Montoya finally pulled it off right before the stadium section...

Yeah, man, it was beautiful to watch. They were running door-to-door for basically a quarter of a lap before Juan Pablo Montoya finally cleared Kimi Räikkönen. But then Kimi got his revenge at the very next race on the Hungaroring, and on a track where everyone swore overtaking was impossible, too... 😁

To be honest, I missed that Hungaroring race, unfortunately. Does anyone happen to have a clip of that overtake? 🙂

Did you seriously miss that?? Man, you have no idea what you missed... Juan Pablo Montoya messed up during that little skirmish right before the penultimate corner, and Kimi Räikkönen, who was glued to his gearbox until then, was practically breathing down his neck. But even that wasn't enough to carry enough speed onto the straight (it was the old Hungaroring, with that shorter stretch), so Kimi just swung wide on the outside of the next left-hander and pulled alongside Juan Pablo Montoya going into the following right one, giving him a massive advantage. Juan Pablo Montoya didn't have much room to play with and briefly clipped the grass, but he corrected it immediately. I was absolutely floored by that overtake; I actually had the race recorded, but I think my old man ended up overwriting it or something... 😠
Kimi started that race in 11th and climbed all the way to 4th, finishing behind those two unstoppable Ferraris and Ralf Schumacher. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better result after qualifying P11.

I can't get that one legendary Juan Pablo Montoya move out of my head—I think it was back in Canada, maybe 2003? He just absolutely tore into the start-finish straight and pulled a parallel overtake on both Kimi Räikkönen and Ralf Schumacher at once.
I can't quite recall if it was specifically those two or someone else in the mix, but man, what a sight that must have been.

Absolutely

Mika Häkkinen vs Michael Schumacher - Spa 2000

And man, there was some serious gap between them at times—I can't even remember it all right now, but you really need to go watch it.
