Is it just me, or is the way certain teams manage their depth getting absolutely ridiculous lately? I was watching a game the other night and it felt like watching a slow-motion train wreck. You can see the exhaustion on the faces of the guys coming out of the pen, and then you see the manager just staring blankly at the dugout because he literally has nobody left to call.
It feels like we’re seeing this pattern more often where a team burns through their entire rotation of specialists by the 7th inning, leaving them completely naked for anything that goes into extra innings. It’s frustrating because it feels less like a tactical error and more like a fundamental failure in how the roster is being used throughout a long season. You can't just ride your best guys into the ground and expect them to have anything left for the high-leverage moments in the late innings.
