And in the actual ban explanation, they basically suggest he just open a new profile (seriously?!) "which will be under increased supervision."
You aren't alone there.
I've noticed this too... back when the old guard was running things, the vibe on this forum was basically
"guilty until proven innocent." The Sharxtreme - Elvis case is the perfect example of that mindset.
It makes me wonder, if we're all talking about these "new changes," why isn't it being assumed that
it's finally time to ditch that whole nonsensical rule?
Also, I kind of want to hijack this thread because the "Questions for Admin" section has basically turned into a place just for discussing signatures,
avatars, and other technical fluff, so it doesn't really feel like the right spot to ask the higher-ups
some actual questions.
Anyway, I’m curious: what criteria are actually used when deciding to amnesty permanent bans, and why does it feel like
the rules aren't applied equally to everyone?
And why does it seem like fictionSmith's threads in the corner get wiped constantly whenever a guy asks legitimate questions about
why he hasn't been given a second chance either? His "sins" don't look any bigger
than anyone else's, especially looking at some of the links found in other people's threads—their stuff looks way
worse, honestly.
I mean, you've got people getting amnestied who have clearly cycled through enough clones to hit triple digits,
yet that didn't stop them from being let back in, even though that exact number was apparently Tyndall's reason for denying his own ban review.
Not to mention the Sharxtreme member who didn't even do anything wrong in the first place.
I really hope I'm wrong here, but I can't help feeling like having private friendships with the mods
is the real deciding factor, while the actual offense barely matters. It’s like it doesn't matter what you actually write
on the forum as long as your avatar is a decent size and you have a well-designed signature.
Thanks in advance for any answers!
