The Time Keeper

Alright, everyone, bear with me for a second. I just had a sudden flashback to a movie I watched ages ago—really, truly ages ago—and it was absolutely fantastic.

I think the American title might have been Guardians of Time. It features these robots and this massive dome, kind of like an energy shield, but the surface is made of hexagonal plates, almost like a honeycomb structure (if I recall correctly, 😁).

Surely someone here will recognize it.

I remember the movie, but honestly, I can't recall a single detail you haven't already laid out for me, though if my hazy memory serves, there was some sort of domed city—assuming it even was a city—with a shield that moved through time, or maybe I'm just tripping, and they find some sketch of the place drawn on a cave wall.

I remember wanting to film that movie myself (not that I actually know the specifics of the plot), but the timestamp on the video was totally off. So yeah, I'm also dying to know what the actual title is!
Gonna hit up Google and see if I can dig something up. 🙂

Not quite. I just did a quick search and pulled up some stills from the movie. It definitely isn't Zardoz.

I seem to recall watching this about ten years ago, though I can't quite wrap my head around what the original title was.

In "Logan's Run," there are these massive domes surrounding the city, acting as a shield for centuries against any outside influence... though I noticed there aren't actually any robots around, except for that one lone unit tucked away in the ice cave...

What do those robots actually look like? I mean, my mind immediately jumps to "Tripods," but I suppose that can't be right since that's part of the 🙂
series.

The Dome? Or maybe just the Damned Planet? 🤔 Think sci-fi, with Sean Connery playing the sheriff in some mining colony on Jupiter's moon.

My memory is a bit hazy on the details.

But I am fairly certain the American title involved something like Guardians of Time. You might want to try searching for movies with "Time" in the title; there shouldn't be too many out there, 😁, I'm off to check now.

Yeah, I think we've found it—the absolute bottom of the barrel. Every single review out there says the movie is a disaster, which makes me think a modern remake could actually be something special.

The core story actually holds up; the real issue is that the casting was off, and the production and direction were just amateurish.

That’s exactly why it failed so miserably. Still, I’d love to see someone take a crack at a remake, though I honestly can't imagine which studio would be brave enough to take that kind of risk.

Translation:
"It’s not that the movie itself is bad—it’s just that the acting is off, the directing is weak, the production is messy, the script is flawed... basically, everything."

Honestly, though, the film sounds gloriously awful. I’d actually be down to see it. 😬

The story itself isn't actually bad; it’s just the execution that’s absolutely lackluster.
