Aspartame is pure poison!

* Splenda is not very sweet in itself, that may be why Equal puts Dextrose and maltodextrin as the first ingredients, just so it mimics sweetness.
* NutraSweet is essentially a neurological drug designed to trick your brain into perceiving sweetness. Have you noticed? When you consume NutraSweet, every other morsel you eat seems sweeter too. Could this be why NutraSweet triggers intense carbohydrate cravings? Is it any wonder people fail to lose weight while using it?
As a side note, cyclamates were banned in the US back in the 70s—though they remained popular elsewhere—simply because the sugar lobby refused to lose their market share.
* NutraSweet (aspartylphenylalanine-methyl-ester) decomposes into toxic components at just 86 degrees (comprised of 40% aspartic acid, 50% phenylalanine, and 10% methanol). Don't forget that your internal body temperature is 98.6 degrees! Therefore you should never use aspartame / NutraSweet in hot beverages or cooked foods such as Jello. How the FDA allows this remains a mystery. Is there any reason to doubt the growing evidence that the "Burning Mouth syndrome" reported by Desert Storm troops was actually methanol poisoning from the Diet Coke they drank lots of while exposed to the heat?
* NutraSweet's 10% methanol appears in the body quickly and is the same alcohol (the wood alcohol found in lacquer thinner) that your mother rightly warned you could blind you. It’s the same substance that caused devastating issues for many struggling alcoholics.
* NutraSweet's 40% aspartic acid acts as an "excitotoxin" within the brain, overstimulating neurons until they die. In short, it destroys brain cells and induces nerve damage.
* NutraSweet triggers Migraine Headaches. I've experienced it myself! Even Reddit is overflowing with users who have linked their migraines directly to NutraSweet consumption.
* NutraSweet's breakdown products attack the body's tissues and create formaldehyde which builds up in the tissues forever. Do you remember those pungent, eye-stinging fumes from the frogs you dissected in science class? Those were preserved with Formaldehyde! And we know Formaldehyde is a suspected carcinogen.
The American Beverage Association fought against the approval of aspartame / NutraSweet because of what the test report showed. Yet, the FDA pushed it through regardless!
* Commercial airline pilots avoid NutraSweet because they are well aware of the documented dangers.
* Furthermore, NutraSweet breaks down into diketopiperazine [DKP], a substance proven to cause Brain Tumors! Brain tumors used to be rare. During the original research, several of the rats in the original study formed brain tumors during their aspartame / NutraSweet exposure. What did the researchers do? They simply surgically removed the tumors, put the rats back in the study, and ignored the results.

I came across a similar article—it's absolutely terrifying! After reading it, I started checking labels while shopping for sweeteners to see which ones contain aspartame and which don't. Perhaps it would be wiser to simply choose the ones that are aspartame-free?

Hopefully yours are better! Though, to be honest, I don't even touch sugar or artificial sweeteners myself...

I've got a box of Natreen right here in my hands, just looking over the ingredients list;
it lists artificial sweeteners (cyclamate and saccharin), sodium bicarbonate, and an acidity regulator (sodium citrate), so I was hoping someone with some actual expertise might weigh in😬 ...

That single image of a crushed Can of Diet Coke telling The Story in The New York Times—it’s almost too perfect. Poetic, really. But it’s also a damn tragedy for a corporation that used to be ranked as The most Admired business in The World. Nowadays? Coca-Cola wouldn't even crack the top tier. Sales are cratering, profits are in freefall, and we're looking at 6,000 layoffs coming soon. Why? Just to clear the budget for a small army of 6,000 defense lawyers. This isn't just about a few thousand lost jobs, though. It’s much bigger than that. We're talking about hundreds of millions of people across the globe who were never warned—innocent people who are now suffering the consequences.

You aren't going to fix this mess by cutting costs, being more "efficient," or pumping out more flashy commercials. The situation is so dire that Coca-Cola can't even bring themselves to say the name of the problem; mentioning it feels like inviting an immediate catastrophe. That word is aspartame. Their only move left is to deny everything, over and over, while every single advertisement they run just builds the gallows they're eventually going to hang from.

If you want the truth, look at that dented Diet coke can. It's pure poison. It's causing birth defects, triggering tumors and seizures, ruining kids' lives, sidelining workers, mimicking MS, and causing memory loss and blindness. Inexorably Diet Coke delivers a cocktail of 92 different symptoms—all of which are documented in a private FDA report they refuse to release, a document that points directly to diet soda as the primary source of aspartame-related illness. And yeah, death was definitely on that list of 92.

Diet Coke is toxic. On top of that, it's incredibly addictive. I know people who chug liters of it every single day, keeping it right on their nightstands like it's water. If Coca-Cola would just fix the recipe and pull the aspartame out, the world might actually start to recover. But if they don't, the sheer wave of resentment and fury from the disabled and the grieving is going to absolutely tear Coca Cola apart.

The poison in Diet Coke is aspartame. Back when they were part of the American Beverage Association, Coca-Cola fought against the FDA approving aspartame for drinks. Their formal complaints, which spanned several pages in the Congressional Record of 5/7/85, argued that aspartame is fundamentally unstable and begins breaking down right inside the can. It turns into formaldehyde, methyl alcohol, formic acid, diketopiperazine, and a host of other toxins. Look at the research: in a study involving seven monkeys, five suffered massive grand mal seizures and one died. That is an 86% fatality rate.

So, do you actually have a source for that?

The real crux of the matter here is this—where exactly did you pick that up? Because if your info didn't come straight from a peer-reviewed clinical trial or a legitimate scientific study (and from what I can tell, it didn't), then we're really just looking at some sensationalist headline.

For instance, it claims "aspartame / Nutrasweet's 40 % Aspartic Acid is an "excitotoxin" in the brain and excites neurons to death, i.e. it kills brain cells and causes other nerve damage." But just a little heads-up: aspartic acid is simply aspartate, which is one of those amino acids—basically the building blocks of proteins LINK.

Furthermore—the amount of methanol produced during the breakdown of aspartate (assuming any methanol is even produced at all, since I spent quite a bit of time studying organic chemistry back in the day) is far too minuscule to be harmful. Honestly, you’ll find more methanol in a nice glass of domestic California wine than you ever will in aspartame. And besides, aren't we usually just dropping a single tiny packet into a spoonful?

The only thing in this whole text that holds water is the potential carcinogenicity of cyclamates, which are part of the mix with aspartame. Personally, though, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I mean, grilling meat is carcinogenic too, yet we eat it all the time. Or, to paraphrase Paracelsus, as my old toxicology professor used to say: "Everything is poison; it's all about the dose." 🙂

Look, there’s a massive difference between eating actual meat and drinking water versus messing around with artificial sweeteners. We don't need that crap in our lives. If you can't handle plain water, just stick to something with zero sugar or maybe some raw cane sugar if you have to.

Aspartan is garbage. Even if some outlets were exaggerating the scale of the problem, it still wreaks havoc on your system.

Anyway, found this interesting read:

Brandon Castillo4 - oh, absolutely. But look, the real kicker is that you're ingesting way less artificial sweetener than, say, meat (unless you're crushing three liters of Diet Coke in a single afternoon, of course). I remember hearing this fascinating story back in my toxicology lecture—my professor was recounting something she heard at a major medical conference in Chicago. It goes like this: a researcher was working with sub-lethal doses of a specific toxin. We’re talking tiny, minuscule amounts that have to be consumed consistently over a long period to even show an effect. Kind of like how people talk about Aspartnam. Well, after six months, he had to pull the plug on the whole experiment. Why? Because the rats in the control group—the ones that weren't being given any toxin at all—all ended up overweight, while the ones he was actually dosing were still happily leaping around their cages. 🙂 So, really, moderation is the secret to a long life.

Look, the whole point is you're consuming way less artificial sweetener. Unless, of course, you're chugging three liters of Diet Coke in a single afternoon.

But people don't do that. 🙂
They grab a massive two-liter bottle and just go at it. Down it in one sitting, why not? 🙂

So, I was just thinking about this one nutritionist over in Chicago—and honestly, I don't know what she's thinking—who tells all her clients they should exclusively use aspartame. But get this: she insists they can only buy the specific kind found at the pharmacy right next to her office... apparently some ultra-pure version from Austria. It’s just wild to me—I mean, the woman herself looks like she’s easily pushing over 220 pounds! It’s just... yikes. What a joke.

A doctor once advised me quite some time ago that artificial sweeteners should be avoided entirely; she suggested that if you really need sweetness, plain sugar is actually the better choice. However, since those substitutes are tucked away in so many sodas and snacks, it seems we might just have to skip all of those altogether.
