At what defining moment did you start rooting for your NASCAR team?
What was the catalyst?

Can I jump straight in? Yes, I can.

The year was '95. That’s when my regular viewing habits actually kicked in.
I remember watching this feature where the commentator kept calling
Eddie Jordan "crusty."😁—to me, back then, it felt edgy, interesting...

By the very next race, I found myself tracking "crusty" Jordan
and his cars.🙂...And just like that, I was hooked.😉
...Watching Eric Irvine and Rubens Barrichello in those red, green, and white machines, and then, just a year later,
the iconic Benson Hedges yellow arrived...

By any chance, do you happen to have a profile shot of the car's nose? I've been hunting for one because that snake and shark livery they had on there looked absolutely incredible on the chassis.

And this whole snake thing—it’s absolutely wild! Especially those two fangs!

My apologies. They did indeed have hornets. 😁

Look, most of today's Ferrari fans probably didn't even see their idol in action until Michael Schumacher finally clinched that first title after—what—25 years? If that hadn't happened, half the people here wouldn't be talking up "world-class" Ferrari at all...
Now that they realize the ship is sinking again, they're trying to claw back the championship through some ridiculous penalties—last time, they only walked away with it because Hamilton got stuck in the gravel right before the pits.

I'm riding with Mercedes-McLaren!! I've got way more English blood in me than some random Italian stuff.☕

McLaren

🙏

I think it was during the '98 and '99 seasons—I caught a few races in '98 before officially becoming a McLaren fan in '99. My old man was rooting for Mika, and honestly, their car was easily the best looking one on the grid 😁 For some reason, I was just obsessed with that "West" logo... I found myself pulling for any team that featured it on their livery.

If I had to pinpoint the exact moment I became a die-hard Formula 1 fanatic and a true McLaren supporter, it was probably when Häkkinen headed into the Forest at Monza and broke down in tears 👍 Mika was the king...

Regardless of how Ferrari is performing lately... I'm still a fan. Michael Schumacher was easily their biggest bright spot and really put them on the map. That said, their current duo isn't half bad either.

First off, Ralf Schumacher-Williams, I can't quite pin down the exact year, but my gut tells me it was 2001.
As for Fernando Alonso-Renault-McLaren-Renault, I definitely remember him from those 2003 Malaysian GP qualifying sessions—that’s burned into my brain. Honestly, by the end of 2002, I wasn't exactly feeling the Ralf hype anymore, and everything really shifted during that first 2003 Australian GP. Ralf finished eighth, while "some guy" named Alonso was right there ahead of him. I distinctly remember catching the next qualifying session on ESPN, cheering like crazy for this newcomer who somehow snatched pole position. I felt like I'd been his die-hard supporter for decades after that one moment.

Ralf Schumacher-Williams 2001-2003.
Fernando Alonso-Renault-McLaren-Renault 2003-forever.

I’ve been following this stuff since '92—mostly just catching bits and pieces here and there—but since '94, I’ve been glued to the screen. Honestly, Michael Schumacher back in that Benetton Ford really stuck with me; I spent that whole season pulling for him. These days, I don't care about the team at all, I just follow the driver. It doesn't matter who's behind the wheel as long as they're absolute legends. To be real, I actually preferred watching Sch in the Benetton over when he was at Ferrari, especially before the cars started looking all futuristic with those crazy winglets. Back then, you could actually see the raw mechanics and the pure driving technique. From 2000 onwards, it felt like the sport turned into a contest of who could build the best computer to make the car track like it's on rails, which totally killed that vibe we had in the nineties. The battles just weren't the same anymore.
The most impressive, beautiful, and peak cars ever? Definitely the Williams from '94, '95, and '96.

1989.

I remember flipping through a magazine back then and seeing this article about the Chevrolet Corvette—man, I was instantly hooked on that absolute masterpiece of engineering. Then you look at the racing scene where Nigel Mansell managed to snatch a win in the very first race of the season, even though the McLaren-Mercedes crew had been basically untouchable the year before. 😍
