I was watching some old game highlights last night and it hit me how much of a game changes based on the guys you barely even notice. We spend all our time obsessing over the star quarterbacks or the flashy wide receivers, but the roster moves that actually keep a team from imploding are usually the most obscure ones.
It’s kind of wild how much pressure is on those specialists. One tiny slip-up from a guy in a role that most fans can't even name, and suddenly the whole momentum of a drive is dead. It makes me wonder if we give enough credit to the depth players who are basically just waiting in the wings to fill a very specific, very high-stakes niche.
Do you guys think the "star power" obsession in sports actually hurts teams in the long run, or is it just necessary for the business?
