The Weekend Away (2022)

Our audience might really dig this one since the whole thriller takes place right in San Diego.

The book is actually an adaptation of a novel—not sure if they're working on a movie version of the book here in the States, but I'm definitely intrigued by how we're being portrayed.

The trailer looks pretty solid for this kind of flick. All in all, I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I don't know much about the movie itself, I'm just curious if they're actually filming in San Diego, or if some other city is just playing the part of San Diego.

Is this that same nonsense people have been joking about—that nobody actually drinks coffee anymore, and how you’ll probably just drop dead if you accidentally fall into the warm San Diego ocean from six feet up in the middle of July?

Just look at the absolute garbage they post on that "Average Floridian" Facebook page; some woman is vacuuming her driveway in downtown Miami and the entire comment section is losing their minds laughing!
As for the movie, it’s actually pretty realistic. Murders like that happen all the time in San Diego; they didn't need to get all creative with it. But sure, let's act like the only real issues are the overpriced coffee and the sweltering heat. 😵

Honestly, just the music in the trailer is enough to get me hooked—definitely interested in checking this movie out.

So, did she actually end up marrying that taxi driver? Is she really running some TikTok channel all about her American life back in the States?😬

I just watched 🤦 🤣

It was interesting seeing all the different locations they used around San Diego, and how they kept circling back while heading toward the hotel 🤣

The acting and the plot... wow 🤦 if this hadn't been filmed in San Diego, I wouldn't have bothered watching 🙄

I actually burst out laughing near the end. It’s honestly impressive how bad this was.
I couldn't help but wonder if the script was written by an eleven-year-old, or if someone was just pulling a prank like in that series "The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window"—which, for what it's worth, isn't half bad considering it's a parody.
But here? I think they were being dead serious. 😁
The acting was actually decent at times, but everything else...
Watch it anyway. At least you won't be bored.

Watched it last night... The plot holds up well enough, I suppose, but some of the details? Just completely nonsensical. You’ve got a Black coroner performing an autopsy while his nurse is based in San Diego; then there's this Syrian taxi driver picking up clients in the middle of peak season, and he even starts threatening a waiter at a club. And don't get me started on Sebastian—the guy acts like he's made of Styrofoam. Even the police seem totally indifferent to the whole situation. Then you have this American woman who, instead of reaching out to her embassy for help, just sits there doing absolutely nothing. Honestly, if this wasn't set in San Diego, I wouldn't have even given it the time of day. The Spanish title for the film is "Weekend in America."

Look, I’ll admit, Leighton Meester is stunning, but beyond that... the dialogue, the acting. She could probably incapacitate a grown man with just a single smirk. And like someone else mentioned earlier, Adrian Pezdirc acts like he’s made of Styrofoam 😵

Does anyone happen to know which hotel they were filming at? Or maybe it's just some random building? I find it hard to believe any actual hotel would want to be advertised like this 😁

I’m totally fine with that. A nice cup of chamomile tea sounds perfect for a slow afternoon like this one.

The entrance is the American House, and the balcony overlooks the west side, near that new hotel.

Based on this movie, Miami is basically crawling with rapists, players, and total creeps. 😬 🤦

Even over at the medical examiner's office in Miami, the pathology department is staffed entirely by Black folks. 😬

Ugh, just a totally pointless flick.
