them Crooked Vultures

Them Crooked Vultures is an American hard rock supergroup featuring Josh Homme (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, desert Sessions), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). This project has been in the works since 2005, but they finally kicked off recording this past June. Currently, the main news is the "Deserve the Future tour", which launched on October 1st. The closest show for us will be in Munich on December 6th. We don't know much about the record yet, though rumors suggest it might be titled "never Deserve the Future" and could drop late this fall or by spring 2010. Until then, we have these promo clips to enjoy:

And yeah, expectations are sky-high. But honestly, when you look at who’s actually in this lineup, they kind of have to be 😉 I’ve got no clue how the rest of the scene is going to take it, but Homme hasn't let me down yet, so I'm betting he won't start now. Just sitting here waiting on the new album and hoping they don't forget about us, though I know that's probably wishful thinking 🙂

They finally dropped the release date. November 17th, 2009. 😁

I honestly thought that album had already been released.
Out of those three clips, the Scumbag blues Elephants Nobody Loves me and Neither do i what to think one is definitely my favorite. The live recordings I've been hunting for are pretty low quality so far.

The debut single just dropped — "New Age"

Hmm, I was honestly expecting something a bit more aggressive. It’s not bad, don't get me wrong, but it didn't hit as hard as I hoped 😉 The US press is already claiming this is their most radio-friendly track yet, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the full album turns out 🤣 Honestly, I'm not sure what you guys think of the single, but to me, it feels a lot like The Golden Age

Calling this "commercial" is a stretch—when was the last time anything like this actually hit the top of the charts? I was really crossing my fingers for a different vibe for the lead single (maybe something like Lost Souls, Dirty Blues, or The Mammoths) but oh well👍 Unknown once the album finally drops...

People thought it was the most commercial track on the whole record, but obviously, it’s not "commercial" by MTV standards 😉

I am absolutely loving this clip! That funky guitar work really kicks in and just gets you moving—it's incredibly infectious.

I really expected a lot more from a top-tier crew like that, but I guess it’ll do 🤷

I’ve given this a couple of spins now. I was expecting something completely off-the-wall with sudden shifts and layered textures (which is definitely a plus), and while it sounds solid, I think I need a bit more time before it really clicks for me.

The Rolling Stones are working on a second album

The Rolling Stones officially announced they are beginning work on their sophomore record.

Even though their debut album just dropped earlier this month, the trio is already focused on what comes next.

"I feel like we're just starting to find our rhythm. There's no reason to slow down," singer Josh Homme told the New York Post, a sentiment shared by bassist John Paul Jones. "We all know there's plenty of music left in us," he added.

Dave Grohl noted that "once we get to that second record, it's going to hit even harder than the first one."

Meanwhile, Homme mentioned he isn't a fan of the 'supergroup' label. "It’s not that I despise the term," he remarked. "It’s just something I don't care for or give any weight to."

It isn't exactly my usual genre, but I have to admit, I’m really digging it.

It’s not like I was expecting anything subpar from Homme. 🙂
