Since you don't actually know which specific program is triggering that error (you usually don't see the notification until you attempt to launch something), it’s likely an issue with an autorun file.
Open "Autorun" and once the scan finishes, look for the highlighted entries... the yellow ones, for instance...
(click on a tab like "Everything," then check the "image Path" column for any "File not found: ..." entries) ... then just uncheck the box next to it, or resolve the issue properly.
Yesterday I swapped out Avast for a new antivirus (AVG). Maybe the installation didn't fully complete. I'll try this and see.
That's a possibility. The old AV might not have been uninstalled correctly (for example, a leftover autorun file is still trying to "call" a file that no longer exists on your system).
