I am 18 years old. I have two lower molars that my dentist confirmed have necrotic pulp. Additionally, one of my upper premolars recently chipped, leaving a hole right next to the tooth.
About two months ago, an issue developed with my upper molar. A cavity formed on the biting surface and worked its way deep into the tooth. The dentist applied a medicinal filling and told me to return in two weeks. However, I completely lost track of the appointment. Just as the two weeks passed, the medicated material fell out on its own.
Everything was fine until the day before yesterday. I wasn't experiencing any pain at all. Then, suddenly, my lower left molar began to ache intensely, and the pain seemed to radiate into my jaw. The left side of my face looks slightly swollen—not the gums themselves, but there is a noticeable lump in that area of my face. I tried to manage it by packing some baking soda and cotton into the tooth. The pain subsided temporarily, but then the tooth started throbbing violently and bleeding heavily. Once I removed the cotton and brushed my teeth, the pain vanished entirely. Does anyone know what might be happening or what I should expect? I can't wait until my appointment tomorrow to find out.
