Total Chaos

So, here’s the situation. I broke my right thumb—an open fracture, actually—and some guy just patched me up and called it a day. Now I have absolutely no clue when I'm supposed to go back for a follow-up. He definitely mentioned it, but I wasn't exactly in any condition to process information since it was a Saturday night.😁I have my medical history, but I can't make heads or tails of it because the handwriting is complete garbage.😁
Can someone please tell me when you typically head back for a check-up after a break like this?🤔

You could just wing it like I did, skip all the checkups, and then end up with a hand that’s permanently crooked.😬

a) call the doctor
b) show up in a week
c) don't bother showing up

The crossing wasn't even open, and honestly, I don't think there was a crossing at all—I'm pretty sure it had been about three weeks since I last headed out that way... 🤔

Anyway... you're in a splint now, right? They didn't need to use any surgical screws, did they? Usually, you'll have a follow-up after a week, and then they’ll likely take more X-rays before putting you in a cast for three to four weeks.

Man, quit being embarrassed. Just pick up the phone with your good hand and be honest—tell them you were disoriented and in shock, so you missed the details... then just ask.
There's no shame in asking for answers.🙂

Anyway... I assume you're in a splint now, right? And they didn't have to sink any orthopedic screws into the bone, I hope. You'll have a follow-up in a week, and once they take more X-rays, they'll probably just slap you in a full cast for three or four weeks!

😲 Well, I've got something resembling a cast on, though I can't tell if it's an actual cast or just a heavy-duty splint. 🤔 I really hope they aren't going to force me into a full cast too.🙄

It’s got that plaster feel, but then it's wrapped in gauze... that sounds like a splint to me.

If it is a cast, I'll likely be stuck in it for at least three weeks.😳
