So, in this long-running thread about American dialects and regional slang, the moderator eventually comes back to my post with

Right, well, in his neck of the woods, they probably just say "oven." So I’m quoting him and asking:

Take the turkey out of the oven, scoop some rice from the bowl, and if you're feeling fancy, pour some gravy over it.

My question is: how is a kid born, say, after the year 2000, supposed to make sense of those specific regionalisms?
