Underrated movies?

Any movies you’ve started once or even a few times but just couldn't finish—and probably never will?
For me, it's stuff like:

8 1/2
Lost in Translation
Lost in Translation
Seven Samurai
Good Shepherd
Nomadland

I think La Dolcita and Fanny and Alexander might count too, but I'm not totally sure.

The truth is, some are just straight-up boring—others aren't bad, they're just unnecessarily dragged out
and some have way too much talking/dialogue for my taste.

Man, there are plenty. I could probably write pages on them. Most of them are just incredibly dull—but then again, who can even keep track? The last one I tried was Spartak. Honestly, they really dragged that one out. I made it about two and a half hours in before my internet cut out on me, so I never actually finished it. I can't even remember if I've ever sat through one of those all the way to the end.

Exactly. Most of them.
The reason is pretty simple: after a certain point, I just lose interest because the scripts feel like they were cobbled together by people who barely have a clue, and everything follows the exact same predictable pattern... as for the acting, there's really not much worth mentioning.

A few random ones come to mind:
> (2017) - I remember starting this on TV and just giving up after maybe thirty minutes... those CGI fights with drones and whatever else were just so boring. Honestly, the plot felt incredibly generic—that was pretty much why I bailed.

> (2000) - I tried watching this late at night, but man, it’s totally disorienting since it tries to mimic how addicts actually see the world. My brain just felt mushy halfway through so I just went to bed.

> (2010) - The whole story felt kind of basic, and that color palette? Exhausting. I wouldn't say it's a disaster, but you probably need to watch it during the day just to stay awake.

> (2013) - All I remember is that absolutely nothing happened in the first twenty minutes while I was watching. I don't recall much else, but I definitely wondered who would even bother making something like this.

> (2017) - Same thing here, I lasted about half an hour. The scenes drag on forever, and the dialogue between the priest and the layman is just... weird. Plus, I basically predicted what was going to happen before I ended up reading the synopsis later.

I’ve given Titanic a few tries, but honestly—the longest I managed to last was just thirty minutes.

Let above the coward's nest—I just can't get into it, and I honestly can't seem to sit through more than about 20 minutes of it🤷

Uff, how can you even say that? Honestly, Let is my absolute favorite movie—but hey, whatever works for you...

Honestly, I told myself I’d finally sit down and knock out Avatar—totally convinced I'd get through it—but my heart just isn't in it. It's one of those things where you want to want it, but you just don't. I already knew I wouldn't vibe with it, though. I’ve never been much for that fantasy stuff or movies that basically just lean on special effects to do all the heavy lifting.

uff, yeah—most superhero flicks (Batman is pretty much the only exception) plus the Fast and Furious series.
Honestly, those just make me sick. I’m seriously counting down the days until this whole trend of filming mindless action trash finally dies out.

The only one that comes to mind right now is "The Barbarian Invasions." I watched it late at night on some random channel and gave up almost immediately because the dialogue was just killing me within the first fifteen minutes.

Another movie where I nearly quit was Dario Argento's "Deep Red." Even though it’s considered a masterpiece of the giallo genre, I found it incredibly dull and uninteresting, so I had to force myself to finish it over the course of two days.

Oh, and Fast and Furious is actually a perfect example. The first three were solid, but after that? They just pivoted from street racing to straight-up crime and heist stuff. It has nothing to do with racing anymore (which is what I'm actually into).

I caught about 30 minutes of Birdman before turning it off. Was debating whether to download the whole thing and finish it... decided against it.

Honestly, I was a bit lost on how he actually flies? Like, that part where he jumps off the building and just loops around... didn't quite click for me.🤣

First off, the acting is just rough. Look, I get it—these are action flicks, and you aren't exactly signing up for an Oscar-winning performance, right? But I can't help but feel a little bad for the actors having to deliver such incredibly cheesy, unrealistic dialogue.
