Two months ago, I went under the knife with a private surgeon to deal with this lump on my right side. Honestly, it was eating me alive. I finally decided to just get it over with, so I went in for a consultation. He told me straight up it was just fatty tissue and easy to remove. I didn't care about the cost—I just wanted it fixed. So, I paid him everything in cash upfront. When surgery day rolled around, everything moved fast. It was local anesthesia, pretty chill atmosphere. I wore a bandage for about a week, took it off, and thought I was finally free. I was thrilled. But a week or two later, reality hit. That lump? It’s back. Well, it didn't actually grow back, it just swelled up again, and now everything looks exactly like it did before the surgery. We called the doctor and went back in for an immediate follow-up. Then comes the kicker: he tells me he *thought* it was fat, but turns out it's actually bone or something. Now he’s saying he shouldn't touch it and I shouldn't worry about it. Are you kidding me? I basically threw my money down the drain. If we had a deal to remove it and I paid him in full, he should have actually done what he promised. Now I'm stuck. I have an appointment at the Mayo Clinic next month to get a second opinion and see where we go from here. Anyone have any advice on how to handle this?🤷

Honestly, it’s been a massive insecurity of mine, so I finally pulled the trigger on surgery. During the consultation, he told me straight up it was just fatty tissue that could be easily removed. I didn't care about the cost—I just wanted it fixed—so I paid him in full, cash upfront. Everything seemed fine during the procedure; it was quick, done under local anesthesia, and the vibe at the clinic was chill. I wore a bandage for about a week, took it off, and thought I was golden. I was actually thrilled. But then, a week or two later, reality hit. That "lump" felt like it was back. It hadn't actually grown, though; the swelling just went down, revealing that everything was exactly the way it was before. We called the doctor and went back in for an immediate follow-up, only for him to backtrack. Suddenly, it wasn't fatty tissue after all—he claimed it was actually bone or something. He told me not to touch it and not to worry about it. Are you kidding me? I threw my money down the drain for nothing. If we had a deal to remove it, and I paid him fairly, he should have actually delivered what he promised. Now I'm stuck. I have an appointment scheduled next month at the Mayo Clinic to get a second opinion, so we'll see what they say. Anyone have any advice?🤷

I can't believe a surgeon wouldn't even have a rough idea of the difference between a lipoma and bone tissue.🙄 Did he even bother doing a biopsy or a pathology report? Usually, it's standard practice for surgeons to send whatever they excise to a lab for analysis. This guy totally played you. If you feel like dealing with him further, go ahead, but otherwise, you don't have much choice but to wait for the experts at the Mayo Clinic to weigh in. If it really is bone, you might be looking at a benign bone tumor, like an osteoma.
