URGENT!!! Emergency contraception help needed

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding a matter of some urgency at the moment.😲
My partner's condom broke last night, and the primary concern is that I am currently in my fertile window. Consequently, whether I intend to or not, I need to take emergency contraception. The issue is that I haven't visited a gynecologist since I turned 18—so about a year ago—and I can no longer see my previous doctor in Cleveland, which means I don't have a regular OB-GYN right now. My question is: can I visit a general practitioner to have them prescribe these pills, or am I able to purchase them over the counter at a pharmacy without a prescription?

I remember once visiting my OB-GYN to ask about those specific pills, and he looked me straight in the eye and told me they weren't even a thing... 🤣

But, as it turns out, I later discovered that they are actually just standard birth control pills administered at a much higher dosage...

You aren't going to be able to manage this on your own without a prescription. If you just walk into a local CVS or Walgreens and try to buy contraceptive pills off the shelf, you have no way of knowing the correct dosage required for your body. Please, don't play games with your health; go see an American doctor immediately...

You really ought to see a specialist at a private clinic. A general practitioner just isn't going to provide that level of care...

A primary care physician isn't going to hand you the same advice you'd get from a pharmacist at a local CVS...
It actually happened to me last year. I walked into a pharmacy and the lady behind the counter told me they don't even carry certain things over the counter anymore—things you used to be able to just grab without a prescription—because a friend of mine ran into the exact same issue recently.
So, what did I do? I went to see my OB-GYN instead. She went through the whole interrogation process: asking about my cycle, whether I was ovulating, when exactly everything happened, and all that. Eventually, she prescribed Triquilar, and I ended up taking two pills every 12 hours—so four tablets total per day.

Yeah, honestly, if you haven't finished those off by now, you might as well start shopping for diapers soon... But then again, only about 50% of pregnancies actually make it to the first month mark—meaning half of them don't even register—so maybe you're already in that second half...

What do you mean you can't make it to UCLA? I’m 26 and I’ve been heading there since I was 17. Honestly, in your situation, they’d probably take you in without a second thought—and I highly doubt you're just sitting around rotting away, because life isn't that easy, unfortunately,

I actually went through something very similar not too long ago. I decided to visit my primary care physician, but she essentially just transcribed my existing prescription and confirmed the dosage for me. From there, I headed straight over to the local CVS to pick everything up...
It’s certainly a viable way to handle it.
