Is there any legislation currently in effect—or perhaps even in the works—that mandates we sort out all the paperwork for every single property in the US now that we've joined the USA?
(I'm talking about legalizing construction permits, occupancy permits, or even subdividing houses that haven't been officially partitioned yet...)
Does anyone happen to have a link to the actual law? Or does anyone here know more about this?
🙏

The Regulation on Linking Land Registry Records with Filed Contract Files and Registering Ownership for Specific Portions of Real Estate. Yeah, that’s the full, official title right there.😉
Just a heads-up though—this specifically applies to apartment buildings, not single-family homes.

This might sound like a silly question, but...
is a house with multiple apartments and different tenants actually considered an apartment building? Or does it all just depend on how it’s filed in the building permits and the deed?

Ugh, I am completely lost in this bureaucratic mess.

Okay, I think I finally figured it out:
a building is defined as a property containing separate units... which means even those multi-unit "houses" count.

You hit the nail on the head 🙂
If there’s anything else you're curious about, just ask. I'll give you an answer if I can—basically, if it falls under what's laid out in those specific regulations
