USB 1.1 webcams?

Since my PC is stuck running on USB 1.1, I'm wondering if a webcam using USB 2.0 would actually work at all.
I need to know if the video and audio streams would be okay, or if the USB 1.1 port on my machine would bottleneck everything, causing stuttering or dropped frames.
It's for Skype. I was thinking about just picking up a cheap 1.3 MPix camera, but since almost everything comes with USB 2.0 these days, I have no idea how it would perform.

It would work. I'm not entirely sure how the data throughput would hold up, but since we're looking at 1.3 MPix, most household upload speeds would probably struggle to keep up anyway.
I know from experience that my audio and VGA resolution alone tend to choke my 256 kbps upload speed.

USB 2.0 devices generally play nice with older interfaces without any real hiccups. And, just to echo what James Morris4 mentioned—even that "sluggish" USB 1.1 is still going to outpace your basic internet connection—so I really don't see this being an issue at all.

I don't think there will be any issues between the computer and the device itself, though you might run into some trouble when sending images or audio over the internet—but honestly, that wouldn't be your fault.

Oh, absolutely, upload speeds are a perpetual headache; even when you step outside our little bubble—not counting Scandinavia, the States, or those Asian tiger economies—anything north of one megabit feels like pure luxury z to most people.
