Username issue

I'm trying to set up a new account, but it keeps rejecting my chosen username (Apple), claiming
"That username is already in use or does not meet the administrator's standards. If you are eris and you have forgotten your password, click here."

I've already done a quick search to see if anyone is actually using that handle, and they aren't. It's like the system is just being stubborn—it won't let me through even when I try adding numbers or special characters.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks. 🙂

I can't say for certain, but it’s possible four letters isn't enough; you might need at least five for your username. 🤷

From what I can tell, three is the absolute bare minimum. My own handle is only four letters long, and I know plenty of other folks around here have short names too. 😁

Maybe they changed something in the meantime. I have no idea what else could be wrong since the username is available. 🤷

Some guy probably registered with that handle, but he never actually bothered to activate the account.

Actually, I'd just say the same thing as the moderator above my post.

Nobody registered him; you can see that right there in the Moderator Control Panel. Nick is completely available.

But honestly, I’m pretty much on the same page as the moderator who commented right above my post.

The thing is, his handle used to be four characters (-Um-) because the system wouldn't let him register with just two since it was too short, but then they changed it for him later after he asked. 🙂 😁 😁

I honestly don't get what the issue is. I tried throwing in some random numbers just to see if it would work
like User123456789—there's no way anyone else is using that handle—but it still won't let me through 🙂
At this point, I’m starting to think the system has a personal vendetta against any username containing "Apple" 🙂 😂
Life really isn't fair; you finally settle on a name you actually like, and then the site just shuts you down 😢

Look, I get that it’s nicer, but there are a hundred handles just like it out there, and that’s what’s bugging me.
I guess I'll just have to move on, but I still can't figure out why it won't let me

I didn't even get far enough to enter my email before the username field turned red. Besides, I'm well aware you can't reuse the same email for multiple registrations.😉

I hate feeling like a total clone, but here we are.
So, basically, a long time ago I signed up under granitescout3, dropped maybe one or two posts, and then just completely blanked on the whole thing. Since I didn't have any of my login info handy, I couldn't even try to get back into that account after a few attempts—so I just started fresh with mellowotter17 and cruised along with that for about a year.
Then today, my computer decided to act up and wiped my username and password clean. Now, every time I try to recover the account, the admin keeps redirecting me back to that first old handle and sending me temporary passwords for it. I'm logged in now, but the real question is how the heck I get back to being mellowotter17 (and just a heads up, with all these different saved passwords floating around, I honestly have no clue which one is actually the right one, which is why I'm bugging the admin for help).

If you messed up the address settings and this second account is using the exact same info as your first one, it’s totally possible the system keeps redirecting you back to the original profile

Roughly speaking... maybe that's what's happening

2 You can't register two different accounts using the exact same email address. I mean, unless you're sitting there cycling through a hundred different addresses—which I highly doubt you are—just try them here until you stumble upon the right one, the one where Ribica is already signed up.

I used to have an account on here before...
I haven't logged in for quite a while, and now when I try to get back in, it keeps telling me my username or password is wrong...
Then, when I tried to just sign up again using that same name, it says the username is already taken...
Is there any way I can just get my old profile back???
