VLC Media Player

It's a really solid player. I always end up reaching for it whenever Windows Media Player starts acting up on me. 😁

I don't want to start a whole new thread for this, but a buddy gave me a DivX movie and I'm running into a bit of a snag. It plays perfectly fine in CyberLink PowerDVD—the picture and audio are solid—but the subtitles just won't show up. Meanwhile, when I switch over to Winamp, everything works exactly as it should: video, audio, and subtitles all intact. What's the deal here? Why is one player ignoring the subs while the other handles them just fine?

I suppose I should ask about VLC Media Player; I’m running into an issue where the subtitles for one specific series are completely botched—what they say doesn't match what's on screen. Interestingly, in the window where you view the subtitle timestamps, everything seems to be perfectly fine...

VLC Media Player is actually quite impressive—I just gave it a spin.

You should probably slow down the subtitle speed—basically just hit the spacebar until it’s pacing exactly how you want it.
