The thread on the Vogue forum is titled Where and what kind of boots should I buy for this winter... I click on the first page, only to find 😲—the discussion kicks off with posts from 2007!!!!!!!!!!!

Then it’s just endless pages of comments and questions or answers about where to pick up specific styles... back in 2007, then moving on to 2008.... 🙄

Can someone explain the logic behind keeping posts from two years ago in a thread that explicitly uses "this year" in the title? Especially when there is never a shortage of fresh content every season, and frankly, anything from two years ago is completely out of style by now.
Why aren't these threads "cleaned up" to remove old, useless clutter?

Look, the whole editorial policy here on Reddit is built around archiving everything, and honestly, most users actually prefer it that way. If you go around suggesting we start nuking old threads, you're basically asking to be thrown to the wolves. 😬

If this specific situation over at Vogue is really eating at you, maybe try suggesting to their mods that they open a fresh thread for every season and just lock the old ones once they're done. 🤷 Or, you know, just stop quoting stuff from ages ago—it's not like you'll break an arm having to scroll through a few pages of old posts to find what you need. 😉

It is rather like insisting we preserve a thread about buying tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game from 2007. 😉)

Fair enough—I’ll admit my previous post might have come across as a bit "stern," but my intentions weren't malicious; I was simply trying to point out ways we could streamline the site.

I don't see the need for such cynical reactions (granitefox16) to a suggestion that should, in theory, benefit all of us. 🤷
