I have a standard TV antenna and a digital tuner, but I want to watch TV on my laptop instead. Is this even feasible since it isn't internet-based TV? I assume I'd need some sort of TV tuner card and software, though I can't be certain.

Has anyone actually attempted this setup? Thanks.🙂

Since you're working with a laptop, I'd suggest picking up a USB DBV-T tuner—something along these lines:

That way, you'll get all the necessary drivers and software included.
Personally, I’d probably go with a tuner from either CNN or Fox News, though those tend to run a bit pricier—maybe around 300-$133.

So, I just hook the antenna and receiver up to my PC via that USB tuner and watch TV like usual? Is there some other catch?

So, from what I gather, you're working with a standard antenna—either indoor or outdoor—and a traditional digital TV receiver with a SCART connection.

If you decide to go with a USB digital tuner, you wouldn't actually need your current receiver or antenna at all. Now, if you’re looking to stick with the antenna you already have (via the coaxial input), you'll definitely need a specific type of USB tuner—because most of them just come with those tiny little antennas included. You'll get the viewing software along with the tuner, and then you can watch all the usual channels you'd normally catch on a standard setup—like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and so on.

Hopefully, that clears things up for you.

Sure, I’ve got an old-school receiver with RCA ports, but maybe switching to a USB tuner makes sense. It’s smaller and probably less of a headache to set up. My only concern is whether the signal quality will be worth it with such a tiny antenna.
