Webcam keeps blinking

So, my PC has been shut down for a bit now, but the webcam keeps blinking with this blue light. It’s not constant—like, it might stay dark for five minutes straight and then just blink for a few seconds before doing it all over again. I'm running Windows 7 on this rig and the camera is a Logitech one. Does anyone actually know what's causing this? Should I just leave it disabled in the settings and only toggle it on when I'm hopping on Skype?

Honestly, you should probably just plug it in when you actually need to use it—kind of like slapping a sticker on your laptop when you're done... keeps things tidy.

Maybe try nuking those drivers and reinstalling them? Sometimes an update just messes everything up and leaves you hanging... nothing a clean install can't fix.

It wouldn't hurt to wipe Skype and grab the latest version, too. Might as well stay current.

If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to look into some kind of software firewall... at least then you'll see who's actually knocking on your door asking for permission and you can decide if they're worth it.
