I’ve got a weird issue on my hands. Out of nowhere—maybe about a month ago—my webcam just stopped working properly. It’s not like it’s dead, because when I open the Camera app on Windows 10, everything looks fine. Even OBS Studio picks up the feed without a hitch. But the second I try to use it through Edge to access a site? Nothing. Total blackout. Why does it work everywhere else but fails exactly when I actually need it? Looking for a site to test your camera? Just search for one online. There are plenty of web tools that let you check your video feed instantly. Simple enough.It’s not even giving me the option to "allow camera access" on other sites, so nothing works there. On Chrome and Opera, it recognizes my HP camera, but then I get this message: "BuzzFeed, your webcam is being used or blocked by another application. To start your webcam, you must temporarily close that application." I've already toggled the camera permissions on and off. I tried denying access and then accepting it again. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
I don't even know what else could be using the camera to block this. I've tried every single troubleshooting step from... Here?Try reinstalling the penultimate camera drivers. Then, go ahead and roll back to the previous version of Java and that last Adobe update too. I already ran a full scan with Norton, and it didn't flag a single thing. Nothing suspicious at all.
Is there anything left for me to even try? 🤔
