I need some help here;
38 years old, 172 lbs, 5'10".
I hit 210 lbs during my pregnancy. Since then, I've been bouncing between all these stupid, half-baked diets to get down to where I am now. Honestly, keeping the weight off isn't even the hard part. My diet is actually pretty decent—mostly whole wheat bread, a little cheese or butter, coffee, fruit for breakfast. Lunch is usually meat, fish, or eggs paired with veggies. Snacks are just whatever fruit is on hand, maybe some dried fruit or nuts. Dinner is either yogurt, toast with cheese, or lately, I've just been throwing a protein shake together.

But here’s the kicker: I look way worse than what the scale says. It’s frustrating. I’m convinced that most of the weight I lost was actually muscle mass.
So, where do I even start? How do I fix my nutrition? And how do I work out—ideally at home—to actually tone this thing up? I want to drop some fat and hopefully rebuild some muscle if that's even a realistic goal.

I’m not in a rush or anything, I just need to get moving.

Please, give me some advice or point me toward a thread where people actually know what they're talking about,

thanks

This subforum is probably the better place for this—if you’d just taken five seconds to glance at what’s already posted here:

The thread where we talk about slimming down. Or, at least, attempt to:😁 Vol.3

If you actually sit down and read through it from the top, I’m fairly certain you'll find answers to about 95% of your questions.

I did look! But it's massive and totally disorganized... I don't even know where to start.

If losing weight actually matters to you, then you should probably put in the work to read through a few dozen pages of this thread and educate yourself. You'll be "smarter" about it after just twenty or thirty pages.—it isn't rocket science.

Then you can move on to the fitness discussions here:

Of course, if you want everything handed to you on a silver platter, go ahead and pay some expensive trainer or nutritionist to hold your hand...

Honestly, you just need to go read The Fundamentals of Weight Loss and Training, which is a sticky thread sitting right under your nose. It’s got a few really solid, informative posts in there if you actually bother to look.

True enough... it's a solid starting point before you start digging too deep into the weeds.
