What do kids actually need?

So, a compilation titled "What Kids Need" was recently released.

The collection features seven bands—six from Mexico and one from the States. Absolutely freaking genius!

Horkestar, one of the bands featured on the compilation, is heading to Chicago and will be performing at The Fillmore this Saturday, 11/17, starting at 8 PM. Entry is $8.25.

It’s an choir accompanied by an orchestra from New York City that focuses on covers of Kraftwerk, Georges Brassens, and various American indie icons. They even tackle poets like Mak Dizdar, Vasko pop, and Slobodan Tišma, along with some revolutionary songs about labor.
Something quite, quite interesting, I suppose.
Their take on Plastika Idol is the kind of thing that really makes you stop and listen.

Horkestar is guest starring at the birthday celebration for the Chicago-based LeZbor, which is marking its second year of existence. There will also be performances by the electro-pop group Kimiko, the bold and unrefined Drvena Marija, and the punk girls from Ž buka (I don't have a link handy).

It could be a very nice evening, and likely will be.
I plan to attend, so maybe they'll let me join the LeZbor ranks; you all should come along too.

Since we’re on the subject of the little ones—does anyone know if Tobić Tobić and Činč are planning to tour this part of the country? Also, does anyone know where I might pick up the latest Tobić Tobić book here in the States?

Činč hasn't been particularly active on the live circuit lately, and as for those potential appearances by Tobić, Krš, and Elektrolasta, they're currently stuck in the negotiation phase.
If I recall correctly, you should be able to pick up the book at Booksa, though I suppose you could always grab a copy directly from me.

I should probably mention that krš + radost is performing in San Francisco today at the a & m festival.
It’s going to be absolutely wild.

Men aren't exactly feeling this one...

That’s how it went. krš + radost played in San Francisco and they were actually quite lovely, despite some rather annoying sound issues.
It was a bit of a shame that the turnout for the first two nights was so thin; the A&M finalists produced some genuinely good music.
I suppose it would be nice if the A&M festival moved back to September.
