I honestly can't even put my finger on why Winamp is my absolute favorite... but I've been using it religiously for like 6 or 7 years now, I think...

I usually stick to Winamp or iTunes..

Look, I personally know three guys who fit this description. I asked them directly, and they all said the same thing: their music sounds great and it plays movies when they need it, so why bother with anything else? It’s just that simple. Honestly, what am I even supposed to explain to you? It's like trying to explain to someone that a Ford also has wheels and can drive, but they'd still rather be in a Mercedes. You know exactly what I mean...

Does anyone know of an MP3 player (besides Winamp) that actually loads the entire track into memory before playing? I'm tired of my disk drive stuttering every ten seconds just because it's trying to buffer a few hundred kilobytes... Needs to be compatible with Windows XP.

Honestly, that’s the only reason I haven't ditched Winamp yet. If it weren't for that, I would have moved on ages ago... back when version 2.92 was still a thing.

Honestly, Winamp is fine, but VLC Media Player is king.

Honestly, that’s the one thing keeping me tethered to Winamp—if it weren't for that, I would have ditched it ages ago—back when I was still rocking version 2.92.

If you’ve got a surround sound setup running on your PC, do yourself a favor and grab their free player from the Bell Labs site—honestly, I haven't tested it on a full stereo rig yet, so take my word with a grain of salt—but I think they have a 2.0 version out now that sounds absolutely killer. The only catch is the interface is pretty stripped-back and minimalist, but hey, if the audio is good, who really cares about a bunch of flashy buttons? 🙂
