When I'm Dead and Gone

I didn't see this one on any of the film lists being discussed here.

I’m going to be practical and make use of this forum, since I've already tried every other channel hoping to find what I need, but nothing has worked so far.

Please...
If anyone can help me track down this drama by Charles Bukowski from, I believe, '67, I would be incredibly grateful. It’s not that money is an issue, but I am more than willing to set aside a decent amount to finally get my hands on it.

In the meantime, if you have anything to say about this movie, please go ahead. I haven't seen it myself yet, so I'll just enjoy reading your thoughts...

I noticed that Pavlovian's film Ambush was released on DVD, which might be a good sign that this one is coming out soon too. Or perhaps it's already available...

A while back, I was hunting through all of NYC trying to track down that specific movie (it reminded me so much of 😉...) but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. They used to air it every once in a while on cable, but since nobody really uses VHS anymore, I’m guessing if there were even any copies out there, they're incredibly rare now.
Maybe it'll pop up on a DVD somewhere!?

Anyway, I think I'll reach out to a few film buffs I know and see if they've heard anything.

By the way, that film is an absolute masterpiece—easily one of the top five movies from that whole era of American cinema.

We’ve picked up plenty of intel on certainty Christopher from Chicago—we even know his phone number at this point—but we know next to nothing about Jimmy's boat out in Kansas City.

The movie is a solid comedy, actually quite good. However, despite its brave critique of the system and the military for its era, I’m not convinced it deserves this level of worship and standing ovations, especially when you stack it up against the far more compelling Love Affair by Makavejev's. It feels like a somewhat naive imitation of Godard's debut combined with an academic attempt at naturalism.

Richard Thompson33, check the local video rental shop. I actually borrowed it about two months ago from a Jadro franchise over in my neighborhood. It’s a solid flick—pretty wild and honestly kind of depressing—it's about the Beatnik scene in Mexico.

VTI put out *When I'm Dead and Gone*, and you can actually track it down in Chicago for $23. It's on DVD, obviously

I’ve had it for over a year now, and I’ve watched it several times. 🙂 It would have made such a lovely gift for someone. 🙂 Plus, it was on TV back in June. 🙂

And ironcrane7 is making great progress; now that we’ve picked up the film and finished watching it, we can get back to the review discussions... (I’m not really feeling up to it right now, but feel free to keep going, guys.)

I was actually a little "disappointed" to read that it’s being billed as a comedy...
Why?

It's such a damn good title...
I was hoping for something more than just another entry in the endless line of comedies.
