That still doesn't really justify nuking the whole thread (especially considering your reasoning). If a moderator thinks the opening post is confusing, they could just edit it, so what's actually gained by deleting everything?

Let's be clear, I'm probably the first person who wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of silentridge3, but that doesn't mean his threads aren't worth reading—in fact, they're usually pretty constructive. And I'm not the only one who feels that way. From what I can see, there's just this underlying bias toward certain users, and honestly, moderators should really be above all that.

Well, if that's the case, they should just lock the thread and leave a coherent explanation underneath (maybe our esteemed moderator ambermason16 could take a page out of Smoogj's book; we've seen that happen before in Literature/Ivana Sajko, where they'd ask the OP for more info before locking things down).

Like I said, this is a general observation, not a personal dig—I have nothing against ambermason16—but playing favorites or being arbitrary isn't exactly how you handle moderation. I can't help but wonder if Smoogj, acting as a fellow moderator over on Television, would just delete a thread without saying a word.

Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what they mean by a "right way." From what I can see, the mods over at the major networks are constantly spinning up threads about shows just to run ads for them. I don't really feel inclined to follow this supposed "proper method," since I'm certainly not getting paid to act as a walking billboard here.

As for being "confusing," I don't think that's even an issue. My opening post wasn't messy at all, and I doubt there's some magically "correct" way to write it. I shared a value judgment that someone might not care for, and I pointed out a technical flaw. I mean, I assume a reasonably focused person can read something more nuanced than just these black-and-white posts. What am I supposed to do? Just praise the show? Or just tear it apart? Is that the only way to avoid being "confusing"?

BTW: if it helps, I could probably post the first hundred most "confusing" posts from my TV Guide PDF, which are all sitting there perfectly fine...

Television offers so much more than what you've reduced this entire sub-forum to. Just check the TV Guide. PBS airs about 60% of its own original programming, covering all sorts of genres. Just because channels like Dom or FOX mostly broadcast series and commercials doesn't mean that's all there is to it.

You know, things like science, educational content, religious programs, sports, news, stuff like that. That way, your attempt to wash your hands of all those TV series commercials would actually look somewhat convincing.

If the whole thing had been set up to be open to every single opinion and every possible topic under the sun, you’d probably see a much wider variety of viewpoints on here—including some that might actually align with mine, maybe.

But at the same time, let people decide if they care about what you have to say or not (especially since you think your post got nuked).
