Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my laptop by adding an extra 8GB to my current 4GB setup.

I'm a bit lost on which specific RAM module to pick up, so any advice would be great.

Here are the specs for my machine:

Dell Inspiron
NX.G1KEX.023

Also, does anyone know a reliable shop nearby that could handle the install for a fair price? Even though I've seen some tutorials on YouTube, I'd much rather leave it to a pro.

Thanks! 🙂

Right-click the taskbar -> Task Manager -> Performance -> Memory
In one corner of that window, you should see the speed in MHz along with the specific type of RAM being used.

What you likely need is: DDR3 1600 MHz SODIMM
An 8GB kit would be roughly $167

If you head over to a Best Buy or a similar tech shop in your area, you can just buy the RAM there and they'll handle the installation for you!
I imagine they'd charge you about $33

I wouldn't personally recommend trying to install it yourself.
That particular Dell Inspiron model is a bit tricky for anyone without experience; you have to pull out the DVD drive and strip off the entire bottom panel just to reach the motherboard.

Hey there! I've actually been thinking about something pretty similar lately. I'm looking to toss another 4 gigs of RAM into my rig—maybe two 2GB sticks to keep things balanced—and it's gotta be DDR3. I've already got all the other technical specs jotted down in my notes... but honestly, the big question is: where's the best spot to actually pull the trigger? I’d much rather grab it from an official retailer like Best Buy or something reliable, though I haven't totally ruled out hunting through some random local marketplace listings... any tips on where to shop safely?
