Why can't I edit my posts?

Why does the edit button just vanish after a little while, leaving me completely unable to modify my own posts?

Take this recent situation, for instance—I posted a question about something, only to realize I actually had the answer myself all along.
But now, even though I’m the one who originally wrote the thing, I can't even delete the post.

Is there any way to get this sorted out?

It seems you aren't permitted to edit or delete your own posts until about an hour has passed since they were originally published.

Do I have a 90-minute window to make changes, or am I stuck once those 90 minutes are up?
And if I can't find the button, how am I supposed to actually edit or fix my post? 😕

And once that's done, there’s no going back—you can't just edit it. Your only real option at that point is to reach out to a moderator and ask them to delete it for you. 😉

I wanted to go back and edit the post I made a couple of days ago, but I can't for the life of me figure out where the edit button is hidden. This forum is unnecessarily complicated. I had no trouble navigating other sites, but this one is something else.

The real kicker—the actual absurdity of it all—is that they simply won't let you. They won't let anyone. For reasons that seem entirely nonsensical, it’s as if an author no longer holds any claim over their own words,
not even the basic right to make a correction. Instead, everything has been effectively seized by this online publishing house—in this case, Reddit—and its entire hierarchy of administrators and moderators.

Just reach out to the subforum moderator. They’ll almost certainly fix it for you if you give them a decent reason.

Thanks for the reply. It’s not a huge deal, really; I just felt the need to point out the logical flaw. It feels wrong to let something like that slide.
