Why do I keep getting logged out?

It’s been going on for weeks now.
I log into the forum, head over to the threads I actually care about, try to drop a reply, and—boom—some pop-up tells me I need to log in again. Like, hello? I just did that.
Or, say I click "go to first unread post," and instead of taking me to the right spot, it dumps me on page 30 of a 60-page thread, and when I look up, there’s that lovely login prompt staring me in the face again.
Honestly, it’s such a massive pain in the neck, and I’m officially reaching my breaking point here.
Anyone know how to fix this mess? 🤷 Please help a person out. Thanks!

My bad on the typo in the title—I meant "repeat" = to repeat

So, naturally, while I was trying to send my first message, and then my second one too, I had to go through the whole login process all over again 🙄just because

Honestly, it sounds like you're just dealing with some total garbage settings in your web browser

well, it happened right around then today, but honestly, it could be any time of day really..:/

I just tried checking that "remember me" box a second ago... and now, great, it doesn't ask me to log in anymore. But the problem is I'm logged in constantly. As soon as the forum page loads, anyone could just jump in and post under my name, which is definitely not what I'm looking for here.

Well, why don't you just install CCleaner? It should do a fine job of scrubbing away all those traces of you being constantly active on Reddit.

The morning rush is always a nightmare because the server just can't handle the sheer volume of incoming requests at once
It looks like some security settings are being way too aggressive and won't let the site hold onto its cookies, which ends up kicking everyone out of their sessions entirely

I'm not sure what kind of setup you're running when you jump online, but personally, I make it a point to lock my computer every single time I step away so nobody can mess with anything

On my work computer, people are always hopping on my desk, and I hate having to log out every single time I step away to grab coffee, check on a colleague, or hit the restroom.

It’s pretty simple—every single time I step away from my desk, I just hit ctrl-alt-del + enter

But you mentioned earlier that it’s just a browser setting issue 🙂.
So there’s definitely a fix out there.
Can you tell me how to tweak my settings or which browser I should switch to?

The computer at my office is strictly a work machine—I can't go around locking it down or shutting it off whenever I feel like it.
Besides, why would I need to? I don't have enemies at work, just coworkers (like the field reps who don't even use company laptops because their jobs don't require them). Everyone checks their email, both personal and work. I just don't want someone glancing over my shoulder at Reddit and seeing my username and reading 🤷.

Since there’s a "don't remember me" option right when you sign up, it has to be possible to use it—that's why they included it.

Just configure any browser to clear your cookies upon exit. Once you step away from the computer and close the window, your username won't be visible to anyone. You just have to remember to actually close the browser.

Since I have the "remember me" option checked—which I have to, otherwise I can't even log in—I end up having to manually log out every single time.

If I didn't have that setting turned on, I could just close the tab or click home on Google when I'm done with Reddit and let the next person use the computer without any hassle. As it stands, if someone tries to browse Reddit after me, they're immediately logged into my account instead of seeing a login screen.

It’s not like I’m worried about someone spying on me or leaving digital footprints—I don't even clear my history—it just feels wrong to be automatically signed in under my name if I haven't explicitly logged out first.
And honestly, it wouldn't hurt if the system just timed out and logged me out automatically after ten minutes if I chose not to use the "remember me" feature.

Anyway, it's not the end of the world, but I'd really love to have that option available.😬.
