What is even the point of having moderators on this site if they refuse to actually do their jobs?
A thread specifically created to address the deliberate trolling of certain users was essentially tossed into the trash.
The moderator in charge, instead of actually penalizing the offenders, just redirects people to another thread regarding religion where it is explicitly forbidden to bring up politics.
People all over the country discuss these issues constantly; it’s only on Reddit that it’s treated like a taboo topic.

What is the motivation behind this kind of behavior?
I am repeating exactly what I already told the moderator.
Closing a thread is unfair. You should simply sanction the individuals who jump in to troll and ignore the rules, rather than killing the whole discussion.
If you aren't capable of keeping a thread from descending into chaos, then what is the purpose of moderation in the first place?
There was an attempt to salvage a similar thread once before where a moderator actually stepped in to penalize rule-breakers, so why isn't that same standard being applied now?
