I was thinking about this today while watching some old clips of my favorite broadcasters. We all have that one thing we think is going to be the "big break" or the perfect fit. You walk into a situation feeling like you've finally found your tribe, where the chemistry is perfect and the vision aligns exactly with what you want to do. It feels like a sure thing.
But man, life has a funny way of throwing a wrench in those plans. I’ve seen so many people—not just in media, but in coaching or even just corporate jobs—pour their entire hearts into a role because they truly believed in the "specialness" of the team, only to have the rug pulled out from under them. It’s a tough pill to swallow when your intuition tells you you're home, but the reality ends up being something else entirely.
It makes me wonder if we overvalue that "gut feeling" of being part of something special. Is it better to follow that passion and risk the crash, or should we always keep one eye on the exit door just in case?
