Can someone please give me the actual reasons why I got a permanent ban without even getting a heads-up?

Thanks 🙂

Wait, how did you even get a permaban just for posting? 🤔🤣

Permanent ban from the IMF betting sub...

A little bit of good-natured ribbing and a joke that totally flew over everyone's heads shouldn't be grounds for a permanent ban. ☕

First off, let’s get one thing straight—it’s definitely not true that you didn't get any warnings. You actually got several, yet you never once showed any actual interest in changing how you communicate.

The reasons stay pretty much the same: constant provocation, picking fights with the moderators from the second you joined this sub, and this weird, unnecessary need to escalate conflicts with me for no apparent reason...

Honestly, the only real surprise here is that you weren't banned sooner.

I didn't get any heads-up about a permanent ban ☕
just so we're clear, I didn't even know that was a thing ☕

I don't see anything wrong with questioning how things are moderated. Honestly? Not at all. It’s all about trying to make the conversation actually make sense on this sub—which, by the way, I've always said is one of the best spots on Reddit... especially compared to that absolute dumpster fire of a sports board. Now I'm probably gonna get penalized for the football talk too 🙄

I just don't get why you guys run away from criticism and act like your moderation is some kind of holy dogma 🤷

And no, I wasn't trying to start a fight with you either. A little bit of back-and-forth isn't exactly a crime...

You didn't even get a warning before the permanent ban—actually, you didn't get one at all—you just kept getting partial bans, at least twice, if not three times now. 🤷

Honestly, you pretty much answered your own question as to why you ended up with a partial ban in the first place. 😉

Look, kid, just a heads up: Eric Fox7 isn't exactly known for his sense of humor. If you tried to joke with him, you definitely made a huge mistake.

Honestly, most of the moderators here seem more interested in flexing their authority than actually being constructive. It reminds me of our politicians back home...

That’s why I’m losing interest in posting on this forum altogether, and I think a lot of other people feel the same way...

(I know the moderators can chime in here, so... just in case one of those highly esteemed moderators hasn't actually read the rules!

By the way, I've realized that most of the moderators operate on the principle that "we are the law, and we make the rules."
This forum has gone downhill compared to how it was ten years ago. I can't tell if it's the moderators fostering this aggressive atmosphere, or if it's the users themselves who just love to insult everyone.

The moment the moderators step away, the insults start flying immediately. On Reddit, for example, or places where the mods aren't quite so authoritarian, I've noticed there's much less personal attacking. This aggressive vibe on this forum seems to be what drives it.

Honestly, I don't get why the moderators here take every bit of criticism as some kind of personal attack or an attempt to undermine their authority.

If you want to share something, and if a bunch of active users are telling you that a certain way of doing things isn't working, but you just brush it off as "policing the mods" or being provocative, then we aren't going to get anywhere... I guess "policing" would be someone complaining about why a specific user got banned when they shouldn't have, or pointing out how certain posts get deleted while others stay up unfairly. But offering actual critiques or suggestions—like how to make this PDF more accessible to everyone—isn't provocation or attacking the staff at all...

Maybe if someone points out a flaw in how a moderator handles things, it isn't meant to be a provocation. It’s more like a sincere reality check to show that you guys aren't the smartest people on Earth, and that there are plenty of people out there with better ideas or deeper knowledge... I just don't know why the moderators can't seem to grasp that.

Honestly, the only thing I find interesting here is how the same handful of users always seem to have some kind of problem with everything posted in this sub 🙂

Besides, there’s actually a specific place for those kinds of grievances on the site—it shouldn't be every single thread just because Charles Doyle6 and his crew feel like venting.

Btw, that’s a pretty large chunk of people—maybe 10 out of 50, if we're being generous—but it's usually the exact same faces. 😉

They aren't always identical, but I guess it doesn't matter much...

Do you realize there are about 50 active users on the IMF forums?

So, looking back over these last few years of writing and acting as one of those 🤷
moderators, I've definitely seen more active ones...

It’s been going on for years, I guess, but I’m really talking about the last few months, maybe even just this past half-year...

I mean, you’ll probably tell me that three people writing a solid analysis is better than thirty people just posting random picks... but I’m not even getting into that. We've already chewed that argument to death forty times over...

Right now, you've got at least 20 regulars deep in the weeds of the specialized threads—plus maybe a dozen folks hanging out mostly in the chat, not to mention the usual crowd popping in here and there for the contests and whatnot. 🤷

Ten bans in a single month, plus a few warnings... honestly, I don't see anything controversial about this decision. We can always look into an appeal later on, but that's really up to the head moderators.

Bans are like silent killers...
Out of those 10, at least 5 feel totally sketchy... I didn't even bother complaining because honestly, I just didn't have the energy to fight for justice.. I got my second-to-last ban because I accidentally posted a football betting thread in the wrong section instead of the chat topic.

And look, no offense, but even a total idiot would've seen that. The moderators should've just moved the post to the right spot... but nope, they jumped at the chance to slap me with a ban instead. Total sneak attack.

As for the rest of this mess, I could go on about it until tomorrow, but let's not. It's pointless. There's something to what the other users are saying about how strict everyone is on this forum, which is probably why you guys stay so busy... loosen up a little with the moderation. Ignore the small stuff that doesn't actually matter—stuff you choose to nitpick even though you don't have to. It would make the vibe here a whole lot better...

...

Honestly, every single thing you post just proves how much of a jerk you're being.

If you can actually manage to change how you talk to people, you might be able to get that strike cleared in six months. Of course, that assumes you actually intend to fix it.

What a complete dumpster fire. ☕

http://www.reddit.com/r/topic_link

Looks like I’m not the only one dealing with this oppressive upper management bullshit... ☕
Someone should just merge this with that other thread...

And seriously, why the permaban if I can't even read the posts? What's the end goal here? Why not just disable my ability to type instead?

Now it looks like I'm defending the moderators.😁 The rest of us get warnings too. There are rules on this site. Read them. Rules exist here, just like laws exist in real life. You follow them, or you get anarchy. That means you don't critique the moderation staff, and you definitely don't call a moderator names. You don't do it to anyone, especially not the mods. Consider yourself lucky you didn't get a permanent ban from the entire site.☕

Charles Doyle6 said:I didn't receive any warning about a permanent ban ☕

It wasn't a permaban—just a partial ban from the sportsbook. And yes, you've been warned multiple times, just as Tominator pointed out.

Anthony Barrett37 said:Honestly, I don't get why the moderators here view every bit of criticism as a provocation or an attack on their authority.

If people want to express themselves—and if a significant number of active users tell you something isn't working—but you dismiss all of that as mere provocation or questioning the mods, then we aren't going to make much progress...

"A significant number of active users"?
I can't recall a single one who was actually productive while simultaneously complaining about the rules and how this board functions. 🤷

Most of the complaints come from those who refuse to engage in any meaningful work here—they don't want to provide reasoning for their picks, they'd rather just post a bet, grab a coffee, and call it a day.

That isn't how things work—at least not while I'm around.

Beyond the fact that criticizing moderation doesn't belong in threads meant for discussing bets, the topic of the rules itself has been chewed over a hundred times already.

I suspect most of us have visited sites like BettingAdvice at some point looking for useful info. Why shouldn't this board be something similar—a place where people flock to discuss, read, and share insights?
That would benefit everyone.
